Gujarat Fix Pay Employees Free Residential Plot.
The state government has decided to revive its dormant policy of granting residential accommodation - albeit in a modified form - with an eye on the votes of government employeesGetting in an election mode, after deciding to regularize encroachment on ULC land, the state government is mulling to start fresh allotment of land at token rates to its employees for residential houses in all major cities of the state, this time not for individual houses but for high-rise apartments.
This is the model followed in Delhi and Mumbai because of the scarcity of land in the cities.The state government had stopped giving residential plots at token rates in Gandhinagar and other cities to its employees almost a decade ago. The last time it did so was when it allotted land in Ahmedabad to Gujarat high court and lower court judges a few years back.The 2017 assembly elections have brought government employees too on its radar, as they constitute a large section of voters who can influence the outcome of the assembly polls.
